Old Kodachromes
Old slides from the 1940s. They were owned by my mother, but I don't know who any of the people are. At least some of the pictures appear to have been taken in or near Los Angeles, California, where my parents lived after they got married.
I have no idea what kind of camera or lens was used, but the photographer was almost certainly an amateur because most of the pictures are not focused all that well and exposures are quite inconsistent. The shot of the happy sailor with his girlfriend (or fiancee? or sister?) is pretty sharp, though.
I digitized all of these on 9 August 2010 using a light box on a copy stand with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II digital SLR at ISO 100 and a Tokina 100mm macro lens at f/8. I have not tried to clean the slides beyond using a blower to remove loose dust, nor have I cleaned up the digital images.
